A food bank has received a large donation to support struggling families.

The One Can Trust food bank in High Wycombe was gifted 30 crates of food and household items by Red Kite Community Housing on Monday, July 6, following a recent appeal for items in short supply.

The crates included long-life milk, tinned fruit, tinned meat meals, rice, tinned fish, pasta sauce, toothpaste, and toiletries—items the food bank had flagged as running low.

Julie Gamble-Kempe, Head of Communications and Brang at Red Kite, said: "We're proud to support One Can Trust and the work they do for our community.

"We know that many of our tenants rely on their support during difficult times, and we're incredibly grateful that this vital service is there when it's needed most.

"When we saw their recent appeal, we knew we had to help.

"Along with donations collected by our colleagues and items we've rescued from our empty homes, we were able to provide 30 crates of food and essentials that will make a real difference to local families."

In addition to the purchased goods, several bags were filled through staff contributions at Red Kite’s office donation point.

The housing association also donates any unopened, in-date food, cleaning products and hygiene items found when clearing empty homes.

This practice ensures that usable products are passed on to those in need rather than being thrown away.
