Firefighters tackled a blaze at a block of flats in High Wycombe on Sunday evening.

One crew from High Wycombe and one from Beaconsfield were called to a three-storey block of flats on Gayhurst Road at 8.31pm on July 5.

Crews used two sets of breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire, which was in the kitchen of a first-floor flat.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze caused around 30 per cent fire damage and 100 per cent smoke damage throughout the affected flat.

A neighbouring flat also suffered water damage to its kitchen.

Firefighters carried out damping down and ventilation work to prevent re-ignition.

Gas monitoring equipment was used to check surrounding properties, confirming there had been no further fire or smoke spread.
