Firefighters rescued a person trapped in a Chesham lift during a busy evening of incidents.

Fire crews from Chesham Fire Station were called to rescue a person trapped inside a lift at Sainsbury’s on Monday evening, June 8.

The incident took place at around 8.23pm, when firefighters were mobilised to reports of someone stuck inside the lift at the supermarket.

Crews used multiple pieces of equipment, including a hooligan bar and hydraulic spreading tools, to force open the lift doors and safely release the individual.

The person was rescued without injury.

While wrapping up the incident, firefighters were immediately called to a second emergency — an automatic fire alarm activation on Bellingdon Road.

Firefighters found the incident was caused by burnt food.

A spokesperson for Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Chesham Fire Station said: "While making up from that incident, crews were immediately mobilised again to an automatic fire alarm activation on Bellingdon Road.

"Fortunately, this was caused by burnt food.

"A busy evening for Chesham crews."
