A shopping centre in High Wycombe has confirmed there was no evacuation on site, despite rumours on social media that people had been told to leave.

Residents posted to social media today (Monday, March 2) reporting concern after a fire alarm sounded at The Eden Shopping Centre in Oxford Road at about midday.

However a spokeswoman for the shopping centre has confirmed its sounding was a false alarm.

A statement from the shopping centre said: "There was no evacuation of the centre today, the fire alarm sounded for all of about two minutes, and this was a false alarm."

Posting to the High Wycombe (HW) Facebook group earlier today, a woman asked members if anyone was aware of an evacuation of the centre at noon.
