World-renowned Detective Chief Inspector Morse is set to make his stage debut in Milton Keynes.

The iconic detective, best known as the star of the long-running ITV series, will be appearing in the first stage adaptation at Milton Keynes Theatre.

Running from Tuesday, March 17 to Saturday, March 21, the show will star Tom Chambers as Inspector Morse and Tachia Newall as Detective Sergeant Lewis.

Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts sees a young actress suddenly die on stage during a performance.

Morse, alongside DS Lewis, begins his investigation into what at first appears to be a dubious case of death.

However, the story takes a turn, as the legendary Inspector uncovers ties to sinister events in his past, dating back 25 years.

As the first-ever stage adaptation, Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts is produced by Melting Pot, in collaboration with Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

The series, based on the novels by Colin Dexter, gained popularity through John Thaw's portrayal of the erudite Inspector.

With his love for opera, crosswords, and fine real ale, Inspector Morse, accompanied by Kevin Whately's Sergeant Lewis, kept audiences riveted with intricate plots and unforgettable characters for 33 episodes over 13 years.

The series remains a classic, garnering numerous accolades and fostering a devoted fan base.

The upcoming stage adaptation marks yet another chapter in the beloved detective's enduring journey, with tickets currently on sale.

The production will include a host of familiar faces alongside the Strictly Come Dancing winner and actor-rapper Tachia Newall.

Robert Mountford will play the dual roles of Lawrence Baxter and Paul Kincaid.

The cast will also include James Gladdon as Freddy, Spin Glancy as Justin, and Teresa Banham as Ellen.

Charlotte Randle will appear as Verity, while Olivia Onyehara will be on stage as Rebecca, Harriet, and Ellen.

Rounding off the cast will be Josh Katembela, who is making his debut in a theatrical tour, and Eliza Teale.

The ensemble comes together in an original story written for the stage by acclaimed TV writer Alma Cullen.

Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts also marks a reunion for Tom Chambers and director Anthony Banks, following their previous collaboration on the 2020/21 tour of Dial M For Murder.
