David Stockdale praises Ryan Allsop after draw with Millwall
Wycombe Wanderers goalkeeper David Stockdale has praised Ryan Allsop after deputising for the injured number one.
Allsop, who has been ever-present for the Chairboys this season, was hurt a day before the club’s 0-0 draw against Millwall on February 20 at the Den.
This meant Stockdale came into the side after being recalled from Stevenage in League Two, after he joined the Hertfordshire side on an emergency loan basis due to a goalkeeper crisis.
He played five games for Boro, and his appearance for Wanderers against Millwall meant he has played in six constitutive league matches, after playing in Stevenage’s last five fixtures.
Prior to this season, the 35-year-old had only played 10 matches between September 2018 and February 2020.

He said: “I don’t get nervous, as it is more anxious [anxiety] for me.
“You don’t know what is coming so you need to be ready for everything.

The 0-0 draw against Millwall was Stockdale's first game for Wycombe since Feb 1, 2020
“People deal with it in different ways and I just smile or shout at the players.
“They know what I’m like as they know I am quite calm at the back but it was hard to follow with Ryan doing so well this year.
“Hopefully, he isn’t out for too long.”
In the draw against the Lions, Stockdale produced several big saves which included one to deny Scott Malone.
But he was quick to note that the point against the London club was a team effort.
On the Scott Malone save, he said: “It is one of those where you have got to do it for your teammates and helping the team.

“I am just happy we were able to come here and get a point on the board away to Millwall as it is always hard to come here – fans or no fans.
“They are a good team and if we are able to take that into Tuesday and get more than a point, then it will be a good week.”
Finally, up next for Wycombe is a home match against Reading on Tuesday night who are currently occupying one of the Championship play-off places.
The Royals defeated the Chairboys 1-0 at the Madjeski Stadium back in October with Lucas Joao get the winner.
The striker has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season, with 17 of them being in the league.

Stockdale played for Stevenage this season on loan, where he made five appearances for the club (Prime Media)
Stockdale continued: “When you have hat-tricks from Wayne Rooney and Yaya Toure on your goals conceded list, you don’t tend to think of the names.

“You tend to think about the shots and they could be coming from anyone as the unlikeliest name could score.
“We will do our best for our homework and try and stop that.
“And until that red R appears next to our name, we will be fighting.”
