A couple from Aylesbury have been jailed after they pleaded guilty to burglary crimes.

Amjid Ali, 43, of Buckingham Street, was sentenced to three years in prison, whilst 47-year-old Melanie Willis of Ardenham Lane was given the same punishment.

The pair appeared at Aylesbury Crown Court on Monday, September 30, where the defendants each pleaded guilty to one count of burglary of a dwelling.

This is in relation to an incident that occurred on Thursday, January 9, when Ali and Willis entered a property on Pluto Way in the town.

They smashed a window and used violence when in the building by dragging the victim, a woman in her 40s.

The couple then restrained her before stealing several items in the house.

However, around 20 minutes after the crime occurred, Ali and Willis were arrested by local patrols who were searching the area.

During a person search, they were found in possession of two window-smashers.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Sophie Foreman, said: “We recognise how deeply burglary affects our communities and the sense of security people deserve in their homes
