Chesham Town Council is set to decide whether to continue publishing its annual Town Guide.

The guide has been produced by the council since 1947 and is published in an A5 colour format of up to 96 pages.

It includes information about town events, the council, local education, sport, amenities, clubs and societies, and a directory of local businesses.

Each year, different community groups and organisations are invited to contribute, and the guide the council say is creatively designed to give it a fresh and engaging look.

It is printed on recyclable paper, with 1,500 copies produced, and is also available online as a digital flipbook.

The project is managed by the Deputy Town Clerk, who writes the copy, oversees the layout and design, and ensures the information remains accurate and up to date.

An external contractor, who has worked with the council for 11 years, is responsible for design and print production.

The council said the contractor is passionate about Chesham and has built a strong working relationship with officers.

The guide is produced at no cost to the council other than officer time. Officers said they believe the publication is valued by residents, as shown by the number of copies collected from the Town Hall.

There is no other publication, in print or online, that brings together local facilities and services in the same way.

Officers have recommended that the Town Guide continues to be published annually, with 1,500 recycled-paper copies and a digital version for 2026–27, 2027–28 and 2029–30, and that the agreement includes a clause allowing cancellation each July.
