A frequently visited High Wycombe café has received a new hygiene rating following inspection.

Hills Café, which is based along Micklefield Road in the town, were visited by assessors from Buckinghamshire Council on November 14.

During the inspection, the unitary authority decided to give the café a rating of 5/5, stating that its hygiene/safety, structural compliance and confidence in management were all ‘good’.

In November, the Free Press reported that Hills Café requires £30,000 for renovations to keep serving its area as it approaches its 10th birthday.

At the time of writing, £2,191 has been donated.

The money the café makes is reinvested into the project to provide jobs and training for local people.

The volunteers or 'Hills Angels' include people with disabilities and those who have not been able to access mainstream education, working to gain employment skills.

It is supported by the One Can Trust, which has a small food bank area in the area and uses the space for community support team events.

On its website, the café states: "Everyone is welcome at Hills Cafe, and we will always welcome you whether you can afford to pay or not.

"If you can afford to pay, then you are helping us to support those who cannot."

In a post about its fundraiser, it said: "Now, after a decade of serving others, our cafe needs a little love too."
