A Bucks headteacher is retiring after 39 years in education.

Mrs Celine Hawkins, headteacher of High Wycombe Church of England School, is set to retire after 39 years in education.

Mrs Hawkins has led the school for the past 22 years, having previously taught in Reading, Chalfont St Peter and Ley Hill.

She is retiring to spend more time travelling, seeing friends and enjoying time with her family.

To mark her service, a series of events has been organised in July by staff, governors and parents.

The celebrations are open to members of the wider community, including former pupils, parents and colleagues.

The first event, titled “The Big Thank You”, will take place on Wednesday 1 July 2026 at All Saints Church in High Wycombe town centre.

The service will begin at 6.30pm and will be followed by refreshments.

A second event, a celebratory street party, will be held at High Wycombe Church of England School on Thursday 2 July 2026 from 3.45pm to 5.45pm.

Organisers say the events are intended to recognise Mrs Hawkins’ long-standing commitment to the school and its pupils.
