A Buckinghamshire chef is preparing to compete for national glory.

Benjamin Mabley, who works at Hartwell House Hotel and Spa near Aylesbury, is through to the England finals of the World Young Chef Young Waiter Young Mixologist competition.

The event will take place on Tuesday, June 9 at Brooklands by Claude Bosi, the two Michelin-starred restaurant at The Peninsula London.

Mr Mabley, who was born in Reading, will represent Berkshire in the competition.

Robert Walton MBE, chairman of the World Young Chef Young Waiter Young Mixologist, said: "Benjamin's place in the England Finals is a fantastic achievement.

"The competition celebrates the very best young talent in hospitality and he should be extremely proud to be representing Berkshire on the national stage."

The competition began in 1979 and has helped launch the careers of leading chefs such as Gordon Ramsay, Marcus Wareing, and Theo Randall.

It is designed to promote emerging talent in the hospitality industry.

Finalists will compete over two days in a series of culinary challenges, judged by a panel of experts including celebrity chefs Calum Franklin, Simon Attridge, Mario Perera, and Tom Booton.

The finals will include entrants from top UK restaurants and hotels, including Claridge's, Core by Clare Smyth, HIDE, Moor Hall Restaurant with Rooms, and Northcote.

Last year, BBC Look East featured one of the finalists from Essex, highlighting the value of positive regional stories in hospitality.

Mr Mabley's journey to the finals has already brought attention to rising culinary talent in Berkshire and the surrounding areas.

The winners of this year’s competition will be announced on the evening of June 9, following the conclusion of the finals.

The event promises to be a showcase of the next generation of leaders in hospitality.
