A seasonal grass cutting programme is set to begin across Buckinghamshire this month, with crews working in a number of towns and villages throughout April.

Buckinghamshire Highways said the work will help keep areas “tidy, safe and accessible” during the spring and summer months.

Teams are due to carry out cutting in Buckingham and surrounding villages, Winslow and Grendon Underwood, as well as Chesham, Wexham, Cliveden, Burnham and Denham. Work will also take place in High Wycombe, Tylers Green and Loudwater.

The authority said grass cutting is carried out in phases, with teams expected to return later in the season as part of the wider programme. It added that schedules may change depending on weather conditions to ensure work is completed safely and to a good standard.

However, the announcement prompted a mixed reaction from residents on social media.

Several people questioned why pothole repairs were not being prioritised, with one commenter asking when a “seasonal pothole repairs programme” would begin.

Others raised concerns about litter being left on verges before mowing, warning it can be shredded and pose a hazard to animals, particularly dogs.

Some residents also criticised the standard of previous work, while others said overgrown weeds and fly-tipping should be addressed alongside grass cutting.

Buckinghamshire Highways thanked residents for their patience while work is carried out across the county.
