A Berkshire pub is inviting strangers to dine together this summer.

The Crown at Bray is hosting a '12 Strangers Dinner' in its Troublesome Lodger room on Saturday, August 1.

Priced at £110 per person, the event offers an evening of food, wine, and conversation, all in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Simon Bonwick, who runs the pub with his wife Deborah, said: "In an increasingly digital world where people often do not meet one another face-to-face, this is a perfect opportunity to reconnect with the world while enjoying the good things in life – great food and fine wine on our beautiful snug.

"Who knows who you’ll meet – come along, you could make many new friends."

Mr Bonwick will also host a special lunch and book signing at the pub later in the month.

He will be signing copies of his book, Cooking, Art & Schizzle, on August 24.

The Crown is featured in the 2026 Michelin Guide and Estrella Damm’s Top 100 gastropubs.

It is one of Bray’s well-known dining destinations alongside The Fat Duck and The Waterside Inn.
