A lorry went over Marlow Bridge this morning, despite exceeding the bridge’s weight limit.

The Bensons for Beds vehicle went over the historical bridge, which has a three-tonne weight limit, at around 8.45 on Wednesday, December 4, where fellow motorists were tentative when following the huge lorry.

Dan Feldman, who took the images of the lorry going over the bridge said: “Despite clear signs and narrow entrance to the bridge - this driver from Bensons for Beds blindly followed his Sat Nav and only stopped when started on at him for driving over the bridge.

“This was 8.45 this morning!”

A spokesperson from Bensons for Beds said: "It has been brought to our attention that a Bensons lorry driver has driven a lorry which was above weight limit restrictions over the Marlow Bridge in Buckinghamshire.

"We are taking this incident extremely seriously and do not condone this kind of behaviour from any of our drivers.

"Therefore, we are currently launching an internal investigation into this and will take action immediately."

This is not the first time a heavy goods vehicle has gone over the bridge.

In September 2016, a heavy goods vehicle from Lithuania went over the bridge which lead it to be closed for six months and cost around £200,000 to repair.
