Armed police rushed to a property amid reports of a 'rifle' being carried in public in a Bucks town.

At around 7.45pm last night, November4, a 38- year-old man from Chesham was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm in a public place.

He remains in custody at this time.

Police stated: "This evening, we attended a property in Sunnyside Road, Chesham around 7.45pm to make an arrest in relation to a firearms offence after receiving reports from members of the public about a man carrying something that resembled a rifle in Chesham.

"Our officers carried out an armed deployment outside the property and the incident has now been resolved."

The force said that it believes that there is not a threat to the wider public.

It added: "We understand this may cause concern but we believe there is no threat to the wider public.

"We are grateful for the assistance and support from the community.

"Anyone with concerns can speak to our officers who are in the area."
