Late evening and Sunday bus journeys are being introduced across Aylesbury and surrounding areas.

Buckinghamshire Council, in partnership with bus operators, has announced a series of improvements to services in and around Aylesbury, including free Sunday travel until the end of the year.

The changes, which begin on November 3, include new late-night services, expanded Sunday timetables, and more frequent daytime journeys for several routes.

The improvements also include an extended Monday to Saturday evening service on the 1/1E route to Fairford Leys, with the last bus at 11.15pm, and a new hourly service on Sundays.

Other changes include a new Sunday service to Buckingham Park, more frequent daytime journeys to Bedgrove, and evening routes to The Coppice and Cleveland Park.

The 50 service to RAF Halton will now run later into the evening, with the final bus departing at 11.10pm from Aylesbury and 11.30pm from RAF Halton.

The 60 route to Buckingham will be revised to serve Winslow Station when it opens, and a new evening X60 service will run until midnight from Buckingham.

Sunday travel on the new Aylesbury town services will be free until the end of the year, including routes 2, 4, and 10.

The improvements are funded by a £1.9 million grant from the Department for Transport through the Government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) fund.

Buckinghamshire Council has previously used BSIP funding to improve bus services in High Wycombe and other parts of the county.

Full details and revised timetables are available on the Buckinghamshire Council website.

Residents are encouraged to check the updated schedules before travelling.

Thomas Broom, deputy leader of Buckinghamshire Council and cabinet member for transport, said: "I am delighted that once again, we have been able to use the BSIP funding to invest in local bus services in Buckinghamshire.

"Enhancing public transport provision is a key priority for the council and gives choice to residents wanting to get around the county.

"This includes giving existing passengers greater flexibility, opening routes for new bus users and supporting our ambition to boost choice in sustainable transport across the county."
