Around £8,000 is said to have been stolen during a robbery at a village corner shop.

The Free Press understands that emergency services were called to Morrisons Daily on St Peter's Court, Chalfont St Peter last Monday (June 1).

The area outside the store was closed off by police leaving residents unable to access the shop.

The incident has left some residents feeling scared of what might happen after an increase in abuse.

One woman, who works in a nearby charity shop, said: “We open at nine and I came [to open up], the police was there but they didn't tell us anything about what happened.

“Just that area [of the square by Morrisons] was closed off. I couldn't do my banking because we use the Post Office [which is based inside the Morrisons].

“To be honest, it's very scary working here nowadays. It is a very beautiful village, beautiful people, lovely people and we have donors and, customers which I found really, nice.

“But nowadays it’s really strange. People are coming around and they are very abusive. I don't know what is going around the world.”

Thames Valley Police has been approached for comment on the incident but has not released any information at this time.

A shopper in the area said that the latest incident is "frightening", adding that there was a robbery nearby to Robertson School around Christmas Time where a house was targeted.

The two incidents are not thought to be linked.
