A High Wycombe community café needs to raise £30,000 for renovations to keep serving its area as it approaches its tenth birthday.

Hills Cafe at 162 Micklefield Road is a Community Interest Company, run by volunteers and three full-time members of staff.

It offers a warm space and an enclosed garden to people in Micklefield, while serving fresh breakfasts with locally sourced ingredients.

On a sign outside the café, Hills claims it has some of the best coffee in Wycombe, with beans from Marlow Coffee Roasters.

On its website, the café states: "Everyone is welcome at Hills Cafe and we will always welcome you whether you can afford to pay or not.

"If you can afford to pay then you are helping us to support those who cannot."

In a post about its fundraiser, it said: "Now, after a decade of serving others, our cafe needs a little love too."

It describes its service as 'essential'.

The money the café makes is reinvested into the project to provide jobs and training for local people.

The volunteers or 'Hills Angels' include people with disabilities and those who have not been able to access mainstream education, working to gain employment skills.

It is supported by the One Can Trust, which has a small food bank area in the and uses the space for community support team events.

Victoria Raworth has been supporting Hills as a café consultant.

She described how one of the venue's volunteers has developed as a barista, excelling at the café in a way they were not able to at school.

She said he will be able to go on to have a career in the field.

Victoria added: "People should know about the coffee here, it is just so good."

She also highly recommends its omelettes and explained why the £30,000 renovations are needed.

Victoria said: "It is an institution in the area."

People can sit in to stay warm in winter, or outside to give children an enclosed space to play in the summer.

It is a bustling and busy place, while it is supported by One Can Trust, they are looking to improve the space independently.

She added that it needs some 'TLC' to keep going for another ten years.

The renovations that the café needs to undergo include the installation of a new kitchen, an update to equipment and furniture, and a refresh for the interior space in order to create 'an even more welcoming space for everyone'.

They have begun repainting walls.

The café has currently raised £1,705 towards its renovations through its localgiving page.
