A safety campaign is urging people to stay visible on the roads as darkness falls earlier.

Buckinghamshire Council is reminding residents to "Be Bright, Be Seen" as the darker mornings and evenings return.

The council is encouraging everyone—whether walking, wheeling, cycling, or driving—to take extra precautions.

Thomas Broom, Buckinghamshire Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for transport, said: "As we head into the winter months, it’s important that we all take a few extra precautions to stay safe.

"Whether you’re walking to school, cycling to work or driving home in the dark, being visible can make a real difference.

"The ‘Be Bright, Be Seen’ message isn’t just for children – it’s for everyone.

"And for drivers, it’s a timely reminder to be extra vigilant and watch out for those who may be harder to spot in low light."

The council advises wearing bright, fluorescent clothing during the day and reflective materials at night.

Cyclists are reminded to check their bike lights and reflectors.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down in poor visibility and ensure all vehicle lights are working.

More information, including a ‘Be Bright, Be Seen’ online game for children and young people, is available on the Think! website.

Residents can also take part in Glow-vember, a campaign promoting visibility and activity during the darker months.
